Presenting Victoria Poirier

Victoria Poirier has danced with music in her heart throughout every stage of her life. She has such an artistic perspective of the world which allows her to readily cultivate inspiration from a multitude of mediums. Victoria has always strived for versatility in many forms; not only in the many dance styles she has mastered but also in her pursuit of analytical realms such as electrical engineering and teaching dance to young students at her home studio Graceful Moves Dance, where she also was allowed to let her passion for dance flourish as she grew up.

Victoria achieved academic excellence in dance through her Bachelor’s of Arts in Dance from Oakland University in Auburn Hills, Michigan. She is always supportive of the arts in and around her hometown of the Detroit area and strives to share the talent of the incredible people she has grown alongside with larger audiences.

Victoria has shared the professional stage with a group of wonderful humans through Contexture Dance Detroit, a Detroit based dance company led by Tracy Halloran who implements multiple styles into her choreography including contemporary, jazz, ballet, hip-hop, and Horton modern techniques. She performed a work titled “Wonder” choreographed by Claire Little in the Contexture Dance “Joy” evening of dance in the Redford Theatre in Detroit, Michigan.

Victoria is currently dancing with a professional contemporary group based in Rochester Hills, Michigan known as Diversiform. Through the group, she has performed for the Arts and Apples Festival and is now choreographing a piece for an upcoming performance next year! The diverse styles and body types that Diversiform explores has truly pushed Victoria’s performance quality and inspiration for dance.

With a diverse artistic style, Victoria's technical mastery is evident in her contemporary, ballet, and modern dance experience at the university level. Her groove in hip-hop and jazz funk styles is something to be reckoned with, as she feels the music clearly and precisely as she dances. Victoria's tap dance ability has won her multiple overall awards at Michigan dance competitions, and she continues to strengthen her percussionist footwork through training.

Victoria is also interested in choreographic films, having directed and choreographed two of her own personal dance films, "Let’s Go for a Stroll" and "In the Center of Nature," with another work in progress. Through these films, she hopes to provide local dance artists with professional videography of their dancing that they can use to further their own dance careers.

Above all, Victoria is committed to uplifting incredible people who are doing impressive work by sharing stories through the artistry of dance, while providing other aspiring dance artists with worthwhile experiences that will have a powerful impact on their goals.
